Went on a guide trip with my nephew on Cypress Springs Friday. Thanks to Brody of B&H Outfitters. Give them a holler if you want to fish Cypress Springs or Bob Sandlin. 903-243-6443. My nephew, Scott, fished with minnows while I stuck with jigs. 1/16 oz with electric chicken color. Fish were hungry but the bite was really subtle. Prolly caught 80 fish between us. Water temp was 71 degrees at 7:30. Most fish were on brush in about 15’ of water. We had our limit at 11:00. Good thing as the wake board boats were coming out. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-53204-140876-b8d16043_82f4_4744_b21f_dcce06f451e3.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-53204-140877-0afc23b3_ed07_4ba2_afe4_0e17d693d92e.jpeg)

That used to be an awesome crappie lake! I don't think it's been the same since they sprayed the grass years ago but it's still a good lake for numbers. I fished it once prefishing for the Sandlin tourney last August and caught fish all over the lake! It used to hold half the CAT records 10 years ago for big fish and stringer weights.

Its still, if not better, than it once was in the grass days. The crappie have really done well, while the bass suffered. I have over 200 brushpiles marked on Cypress that stay loaded with crappie. There was a short period during the spawn where the piles were vacant, but after that they were loaded full once again. It amazes me how many are in the lake. There are quite a few rocky ledges/road beds that the black crappie swim around in suspended schools. Those are the ones I try to target. Nice big, thick fillets. It seems like everytime I go out there I find another brushpile or two. Thank yall for keeping it brushed
