I'm seeing several of y'all use mono / flouro as main line. I've always been told to use braid. Maybe I need to try this and see if it helps me enjoy slinging the ol' ball and chain.
I loath throwing it BTW.

Dobyns 805 here as well. Run 20lb invisix main line. 15lb red label leader average 4' long. 1 ounce tungsten flipping weight with one bead and a swivel. 3/0 offset owner worm hook with a baby brush hog 99.9% of the time. Throw it fro. 6" of water to 40' . Absolutely smack them with it in 6"-4' of water.
I can backlash toilet paper.

I’ll do just about everything imaginable to avoid having to throw one…. But if I do I prefer an egg sinker. For me it seems to hang up a bit less than the other options.

I use an academy all star c rig rod and a Shimano reel, 15lb mono main line and 20 lb mono leader. Swivel 2 beads. The heavier leader allows the bait to sink slower and stay in the strike zone longer

Power Tackle 104.5. 1 oz. lead egg sinker most of the time (in the words of former Fork guide Cody Malone, "get it to the bottom as quick as you can") but will use a 1/2 brass weight if fishing shallow. Glass bead and a VMC ball bearing swivel. Hook depends on bait being used. 20 lbs Invizx to 12 lb Big Game leader. Will throw any of the following: fluke, lizard, baby brush hog, brush hog, french fry, rattlesnake and sometimes a swimbait. This rig is on deck 99% of the time I'm on the water.

If I use a different leader than main line, I will always use a lighter leader so that I usually get my swivel and weight back if I get snagged.

You certainly take the risk of losing a whole set up but this technique gets me way more strikes. I keep a few extra swivels with a leader tied on in a small container with a hook and beads so that I can grab them quickly and get it tied on.

Mine never comes out of the rod box anymore, it’s been replaced by something so much better, quicker and easier.

Mark Pack showed me how to C-Rig years ago and now it's one of my favorite ways to fish. I use a Dobyns 804C. Carolina riggin special rod with Shimano Antares 7.4 reel. 20lb. Seaguar Abrazx floro. 2 Carolina keepers and a one ounce Joy Tungston weight. This is an awesome setup. Does not matter if it's 3' or 30' I throw it everywhere and it catches pigs. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-41404-140334-img_2454.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-41404-140335-img_2455.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-41404-140336-20211016_085344.jpg) [img]http://[/img] Mark Pack would shake the heck out of the CRig to get the clack.
