It may have been a case of only one door into the room and if you entered that door you were immediately shot. Maybe they were waiting for someone to arrive with enough armor to get them into the room in one piece so they could take out the sicko.

Something definitely not right here. Why didn't the school police officer and/or other LEO's engage him immediately?

Guess we'll learn more in the coming days.

I'm leaving this here with some minor opinion of mine:

Police are not required to try to prevent harm to individuals. There are many SCOTUS cases confirming this. The latest: from 2016

Personally I think not rushing in immediately to attempt to terminate the murderer is both immoral and cowardly.

Kind of surprised that shooting him thru a window wasn't an opportunity any time before they found someone with a key to the door.

A campus officer I think.

There was no entry attempted until the Border Patrol tactical team arrived and breached the building and room. The BP officer took a round that grazed his skull requiring staples to close the wound. He was a hero.

Bum rushing a mentally ill person armed to the teeth locked in a room with hostages doesn’t sound very strategic and smart . Unfortunately the choice not too do that had a very devastating loss of innocent lives . Who are we to judge the choices made by the Leo’s and border patrol agents we weren’t there and most of us aren’t trained to handle the situation even if we were there . I’d like to think if I saw a crazy person rush into a school full of children with a weapon that I would pull my little purse pistol out and bust his head wide open like a cantaloupe . Whose to say he wouldn’t get the jump on me ? Or I freeze and piss all over myself ? Point is when crazy [censored] goes down and there’s no time to think or breath you never know what is going to happen ... just my 2 cents

Agreed, this is exactly what they signed up for. There is no good explanation if it's true that shooter was inside for an hour with LEO outside.

this regardless of anything else you are armed and have a chance, those kids have no chance if you do nothing. I guess I don't understand how a grown man could sit outside for any reason and let innocent kids be slaughtered.

I agree Bob, but how does a christian man armed stand outside and do nothing? We should be the first to protect knowing we will see jesus if we die, at least give yourself and those kids a chance. I guess if everything's the same except you save even one life it's worth it. The consequences of doing nothing and having to live with it is much worse, then getting killed for a christian.

Don’t know how far they were from each other when they exchanged fire and I’m assuming the security had only a service handgun…. Handgun vs AR-15 is not a good matchup

All the facts need to be on the table. Were there ongoing shots from inside the school? If that was happening for an hour, it's really hard to wrap my mind around not going in there hell or high water. Were all those kids dead in the first 5 minutes, and by the time LEOs got there the shooting had stopped? If the latter is the case, they may not have known if it was a hostage situation or what the deal was exactly. If it's a hostage situation and you run in, you may cause more harm than good. We can't know until we hear all the facts.
