I have a 24V Maxxum 70# TM and I run (new) Exide 31 series and they will not get me through a tournament day. I get six/seven hours out of them and they start go. I try and run the TM at not more than 50% when I'm on it but you know how that goes as there are times you have to kick it up a bit. I can't go Lithium but maybe some AGM's would help in the long run, not opposed to regular flooded cell. Also, do you look at AH's or RC or both when buying batteries? I've always got the highest numbers I could find. Thanks, I'll check back later for responses.

For trolling motor batteries, just look at RC. I would go the local Sam's and see if they have the 200 RC AGM Duracells. Those are great.

Is it an older “pre digital maximizer” Maxxum? I had an older one and it seems like the thing was VERY inefficient. When I sold it and bought the Ultrex, I noticed I’d get almost 50% more use out of the batteries on a days charge.

Like said before, just get the biggest lead acid batteries you can stuff in the boat. 200rc is pretty stout. I have group 31 lead acid batteries from o riellys. They have 210 rc and I have to fish hard for 8 hours in the wind to get them to really struggle. This is on a heavy loaded 18’8” skeeter.

Those exides should be agm, I’d suspect that your charger isn’t charging them fully.

I wish they were but they're lead acid maintenance free. Exide changed manufacturers a while back so that may be the issue. I ran them for years and I could run two days without charging but not these new one's.



I have a new Maxxum, a 2021 Digital and Minn Kota Digital Charger. I started having trouble when I went with the newer Exide's. The old one's were awesome!!
