Boat and motor have been bulletproof until this point. Yesterday while driving across the last we hit a wave. Upon impact of the wave, an audible alarm starts going off and the motor restricted the rpms to a crawl.
Turned the engine off and back on, no alarm. Alarm would turn on with a solid beep when the speed reached 7mph.

Checked the water stream leaving the motor and it was a strong stream. Checked the oil reservoir and wires and nothing noticeable. 2 Stroke engine and the oil level is completely full.

Idled back at 5mph from main lake and that took an hour. The rest of the day the engine would start up immediately and some times I could get the boat on plane but within a minute the alarm would come on.

thoughts?

Possible low oil , make sure oil cap on motor didnt come out , and check on board make sure has oil,

Here are pictures of both oil reserves I know of. Wires all seemed good too. Both reserves were between the lines.

Your pop it value mat have rocks in it this will cause a alarm also,

What is that and where is it? I spoke with a mechanic and he said my onboard tank was low. I manually filled it with the switch and that worked. Thinking about putting the hose on the motor and taking the float sensor out to manually set the float off to see if it fills the on board tank.

Could a back trim sender cause this as well?
