Vansickle is a little town just north of Quinlan. The pastor of the Baptist church there asked me to come to a men's function, have a fish-fry lunch, give a devotional, and share the Mepps technique with the men. The pastor, David Upchurch, was in the youth group with my daughter in the early 1980's, and I used to take him white bass fishing on Lake Livingston back then - using the Mepps method of course. After the meal, the devotional ("All of the truths of the Gospel are in one verse of the Bible (John 3:16)), and the Mepps talk and demo, I took the pastor and one of his members - Nathan - fishing on Tawakoni. We fished from 3:30 to 7:50 PM and caught 43: 40 white bass, a cat, a short hybrid, and a 25 3/4 inch hybrid. Fish were harder to find and harder to catch than last week. The best spot was Wolk Creek Humps - the easternmost hump. Here are some pics of the day:

Great pics and blog report, DC, on preaching how to use mepps and teaching love and kindness. That is a monster hibbie no wonder it took you 10 mins to land the trophy fish!

I fish Twok alot and never heard of Vansickle. That town got more than 10 people and 1 stop sign ??

It's more of a community than a town. Didn't see any stores there. The church address is 2181 CR 2246, Greenville, TX 75402.

Cool you were able to fellowship there. We bought our first house in that area when my wife and I were very young. I went to that church off and on as a kid and it was actually built by my parents best friends.

They all seemed like good folks. I really enjoyed my day there. Thanks for your comment.
