Yessir, in fact they got one of our older miniature collies our first year here.
We would see them randomly day or night going across the front yard or back pasture, but my daughter ( who lives next door) got a German shepherd that’s almost 2 years old now, I watched her chase several coyotes away and now we sometimes hear them in the distance but I supposed they just decided there are easier places to hunt-
LOVE that German Shepard!
Great dog-
She patrols our 20 acres on the regular-

if you see them in a pack, bring the shepherd in, 3 or more and the dog is toast. I have packs up to 20 or so out here, they will devastate the ducks in winter.

get an anatolian, they will tear up yotes big time.

pyrenese are another, yotes don't go around property they watch over, bunches of them out here.

Tilapia will have a hard time surviving the winter.

A donkey will keep coyotes away.
Sounds like you have a cool deal Steve. I hope your ducks don't decide to up and fly off.

Sounds like his GSD is going a fine job. BUT I will say Great Pyrenese suit the bill. I have one and they are protective, tough as hell, stubborn, smart and can have a mean streak. Very independent dogs. Great for this purpose but not ideal as a family pet.

Tilapia won’t survive the winter but they will clean up the algae and provide a food source for predator fish. Much better than going the chemical route IMO. Of course, he may be happy with the algae being there too.
