Well, we bit the bullet and bought a new Pathfinder. We are running a 200 HPDI Yamaha. It comes stock with a 3 blade 19 pitch prop. We do a lot of wadefishing so we were thinking a better whole shot might come in handy, so we were considering getting a 4 blade 21 pitch prop. Does anyone have any suggestions on if this is a good idea or not? I know that we will loose some top end speed, are there any other considerations that I am not looking into?

I have a 2200V with a Vmax 200 HPDI, too.

I run a 4 blade and it will turn 5600 rpm at 56 mph.

Here is the poop on it. Power Tech prop. It is heavily cupped and ported. It is everything you need on a 2200v w/ 200.

Oh, CONGRATS ON THE NEW RIG and welcome to the Pathfinder family, too. Check out their website and become a member. Lot's of good folks and you'll find this prop is one of the best for this rig.

Pathfinder,

Here is a little trick you may try out before you make the investment into the 4 blade...Where your propeller couples up to the lower unit there are usually 3 hard rubber grommets that are stuck into the prop...Remove one of those gromets..ONLY one...This will give you extra bite out of the hole..I am told by a member of the Triton Pro staff and I have noticed a significant difference...Also if at all possible..store your trolling motor batteries in the forward storage area and run wire..the 100 or so lbs at the bow will help break the boat over on plane a little quicker and the rear of the boat draft slightly more shallow...not much..but every inch counts.

hello i sell boats in corpus christi and a $60 set of engine wedges will give you about a 15-20 percent increase in your hole shot. These engine wedges allow you to tuck your motor further up under your boat. one thing to remember about a pathfinder, even though they are great boats they are not shallow water boats and a 4 blade prop wil never change that.

I came across a sandbar, by accident, over at king ranch shoreline. It was less than 10inches deep, maybe closer to 7 or 8. Never touched.

My 2200v comes up in less than 2 ft. of water, and I'm careful anyway. Now it aint some flats boat, but that's pretty descent shallow water operation for a 22 ft. V bottom. Rigged with a trolling motor or drifing, you can go where the skinny rigs do. I've drifted in water that was much less than that, close to 6-7" and just skined the bottom on the sand.

If shallow means kickin up mud, then it ain't. It will take you where you can get out and wade with no problem. You can't beat it for an all around boat. Deep, shallow, lake, jetties, offshore (on a nice day). You'll be very happy. Get the 4 blade and it will allow you to run more shallow than a 3. This prop is ported and will allow the motor to be jacked up higher while still allowing water over the top side and won't cavitate/ventilate.

This is my opinion based on my own experience.

You're right about the Pathfinder, I have already owned one and I'm goin' back for another. I'm just used to having the TRP and want something with similar performance.
