I can add that to the list of things I’ve done that sucks. The first half of my trip to Fort Worth this morning was cussing at the big trucks driving slow in the fast lane, then as I’m jacking up my car, I was cussing at them for driving so dang fast. That little wobbly Jack was terrifying each time a gust of wind hit from the trucks driving by me six feet away. And it was raining a little. I didn’t like any of it. Then I didn’t like driving on the little donut tire. I stopped in Wills Point, got my tire fixed and just came on back home and quit while I was ahead.

Saw a ton of people injured and killed doing the same. I always tell everyone limp it off the highway, a rim and tire isn't worth your life.
But, most say it will never happen to them. The sure bet is it usually doesn't happen to the same person twice.
Got hit by a drunken illegal alien going 100+ mph in Ford F150, fortunately was in a fire engine waiting on PD for a wreck. Still had significant injuries to my whole crew and all were off work for at least 3 months.

I got to change a trailer tire Saturday after fishing a tournament on the side of the highway. Yeah, it sucks.
I hate photobucket.

I had a flat once in my wife’s Ford Fusion at the time. It was right on 20 between Dallas Carter HS and Westmoreland in Duncanville. Didn’t really want to exit in that area (if you know what I mean) so I pull over a swear I looked like a tire changer in a pit crew. Got the flat off and put on the spare all in about 15-20 mins. I was moving but luckily the flat was on the drivers side and my arse wasn’t sticking out to traffic‼️

My kids arent driving age yet. But one day in the not too distant future, theyll learn how to change a tire. One of the 1st things I intend to emphasize with them is that they're never to change a tire on the side of the highway. Ill tell them to limp off the road and into a parking lot and we'll replace the wheel later if we have to. If they cant do that for some reason, they can call AAA from their car. IMO, too many things go wrong and it just isnt worth it.

That happened to me on I-49 going south close to Alexandria. Called the State Police and had a trooper sit behind me while I changed the tire in the rain.
Religious experience for me for sure!
Only flats before that were always in my garage!

Glad to hear it was raining, so you got the full experience. I got one word for you - Roadside Assistance! I believe most major auto insurers offer it. I used mine thru State Farm just last week.
Courage - knowing something will hurt and still doing it. Stupidity - knowing something will hurt and still doing it. That’s why life is difficult

AAA. well worth the money. Where were you headed in Fort Worth? An energy company by Eagle Mountain was my destination. What was funny was I was listening to a you tube video showing how to add nitrogen to a hydraulic accumulator. In the video, when they removed the gauge kit, it gave a puff of air. That is when my tire blew. It took me a while to figure out what was going on.

I’d put the truck in 4WD and drag that trailer through the ditch before I’d even get out and look at it. Haha.

I know a few buddies that refuse to change a flat next to a large highway.
No matter what, they will drive on the rim to get to a service road.
To them, safety is more important.
With the way we are infested with distracted drivers, I really don't disagree.

Ugggg I have had to change 2 tires in the last couple of months on the side of the road.
Yes it sucks, And sometimes you just have to do it even though there are other options.
Worse one for me was trying to get the tire down from under the truck with my boat still hooked up. One side was the shoulder of the highway, the other direction was about a 3' drop off

I guess I can’t justify putting someone else in danger to change my tire for me.
I wanted to limp along until I made it to the next off ramp but it was way down the road and I didn’t want to buy a new wheel today.
