A lot of us know Donald on here and I have had him rebuild some spinnerbaits for me that were just perfect. I bought two of his topwater builds that he was asking everyone for the old spooks a while back for. He told me to use it like the dying flutter and to throw near heavy cover. Well had it tied on a rod for a while and have thrown it here and there, no bites yet. This morning I am fishing a sandpit lake and 4th cast I get a brick in a bathtub blowup, go to set hook and break right off. Hardest thing was watching it jump out of the water 6 times in the next 5 minutes with a boat length of me, all 3 hooks in its mouth. I am thinking she is going to die a slow death unfortunately. I have had many a poppin cork fishing in the surf get broken off and watch it move around and come back up several times and even retrieved a few, but this solid 6+ lb fish will haunt me for a while, but it made a memory and the box full of crappie I got today, mostly on jigs topped it off. Thats why I go anyway. Also it was a knot failure not a hardware. So Donald, invoice me for 3 more when you get a chance. I plan to use them in the surf this summer, and when i get back out on that sandpit lake again of course!!!

Glad you hooked into a big one on the Spook. Sorry you broke off. I use 25# Original Stren on the spook; because it has NO polymers and floats. This is what helps the bait to do the 180 degree turns to mimic the Dying Quiver. I need to know which one you was using; so I can build them. One has the deep Tourquoise stripe hand painted and the other one has the stripe custom painted which is not as bold as the hand painted stripe.

I think it was the one with the deep torquiose stripe, send me 2 of those and 1 of the other when you get them done no rush, I saw your for sale post on your boat so it seems you got more important work right now and I understand. I will pay paypal like last time. It will come out of the new kitchen fund that the lawn business is in the process of financing!

Yes it is better and has to be hand painted on the sides of the bait. I have worked with two different lure painters and they haven't got it right. Their work seems to turn out more pastel topaz
