I recently picked up three tackle boxes at an estate sale. They are full of old crankbaits. Almost all have some sort of a white waxy substance on them. This substance will scrape off with your finger nails. This will take forever and I am hoping that someone out there has a remedy to speed up the process. These are are really good older style lures like I used in the 1970's and 80's . Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Randy in Alabama

Start your clean up process with Dawn Dish Soap. - Remove all the hooks so you can deal with the baits. You will want new hook if you are going to use them to fish. Suggest KVD Triple Grips in approximately the same sizes. - Full strength and let them sit for 30 mins. - Rub it in with your fingers; watch for any paint removal. Bad thing to happen. - If we are good to go rinse off in hot water. - Let the lures dry then use half and half vinegar and water to neutralize any further waxy substance.
Try this fist and let me know how it goes.

My question is: - Is any of the paint very gummy; like a plastic worm was close to the baits or touching them? - Is any of the paint coming off? - Is the whole bait sticky or just in spots? - Is all the baits having the same problem?
