He talks about his setup throughout this video, but around the 23 minute mark he specifically mentions a 7.1:1 and medium heavy rod. They have a few in depth chatterbait videos on their channel.

I recently lost 4 fish in a tournament all on a Chatterbait, all threw the bait on the first jump. I set the hook about like a crankbait, sweeping to the side. My current setup is
BPS Pro Qualifier 2 6.8, Falcon Bucoo 6โ€™6โ€ MH moderate fast, 12lb suffix copolymer

I fish a chatterbait maybe 60% percent of my time out, 2 times a week. First i only use jackhammers or rarely i will use the thunder cricket. As far as rod, I found i really like the daiwa evergreen 7ft bladed jig rod. For reel i like the curado dc. Strong but the dc is important because 9 times out of 10 im skipping under docks with chatterbait. As far as line, 17-20lb invisx is my go to. This has put more fish in the boat than any setup i own. My other rods are dobyns and gloomis imx pro rods with shimano metanium dc reels or lews custom pro and this is my one exception for odd ball setup but its the best one in my opinion.

I like a spinner bait rod. Glass Skeet Reese is what was my primary for this set up.

I just can't use a rod under 7 foot, unless it's a jerk bait rod. It's a single hook presentation and frankly a jig hook, I use a 7'3 heavy-fast, 15# flouro.

I fish it like I do a swim jig, let them eat it then lean on them.

I fish chatterbaits year round and rarely lose fish on them. I fish them on a Kistler KLX 7โ€™3โ€ MH with a 7.7 or a 7.4 Shimano or Kistler reel. I also use a 7โ€™3โ€ FNR MH with a 6.2 metaniumโ€ฆ. 16lb Sunline FC sniper

Went ahead and put 15lb seaguar on my glass square bill rod.
Im going to get the falcon LR swim jig and put 50lb braid on It for chatterbaits but in the mean time Iโ€™ll try the squarebill setup for them also.

I like the idea of 15lb fluoro on It either way.

Also put 15lb seaguar on that first setup I mentioned. The bucoo.

I am all about the Dobyns 736 Glass rod for chatter baits. I have tried several others, but this one works best for me. I love how it controls the fish after the hook up and have not lost many fish since switching to it. I like to pair is with a curado and 20lb fluro

Also your line may have too much stretch. I throw mine on 50# braid. I really like the vibration it transmits and the hook ups I get. It pairs very well with the rod. Otherwise, you might try using fluoro.

I would try your All Round set up. The gear ratio is a little faster than I would use but I think you will have better success on the hook ups.

Do you run straight braid?

Went ahead and ordered the falcon head Turner and a tatula 6.3 for a spinnerbait setup.

Still looking for the falcon swim jig.

Someone on the forum was recently selling a Dobyns Champ 736 glass for $185. Not sure if it's still available but that's an excellent chatterbait rod. I have the Dobyns 735 glass and it's excellent. I wanted the 5 weight since I rarely throw anything over 3/8 ounce. Not a bad deal since a new one would be $225 plus tax.

First of all I would get rid of the 12# suffix copolymer. Suffix copolymer line has way too much stretch in it.

Yessir I took care of that the other day on the reel mentioned and on my square bill combo.

Question. Why mono (big game) on a spinnerbait setup?
