Seems a nylon strap tied to a PU truck with good strong tension, a driver, and a decent chainsawyer could get that thing down rather easily and very safely. If by chance there's a screw-up that's what you got homeowners insurance for. Don't foresee any problems on that smallish tree though.

This tree felling tutorial is advanced but one of the best I've seen. The basics which are in this video is enough for that front yard tree and are in this video. Key is taking your time and pick a windless day.

As far as the stump goes put a raised circular flower or shrub bed over it. Helluva lot less expensive than $3K.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

For that price I'd do it myself. Just take your time and cut one limb at a time.

My neighbor had her Live Oak taken down: Cut up, stump grind and hauled out for $800.

My neighbor cut down his own tree last year. He wasn't in the shoulder sling too long.

It looks like a Bradford Pear. Just push it over.

I'd leave the stump. It would be a good place to sit and drink beer.

Pretty neat watching the real pros bring down a large tree. Some of the best money I ever spent.

I just got through paying $1500 to have a water oak cut down in front of my daughter’s house. I get to haul it off and the stump stays

I agree. My beloved live oak was cut down yesterday it had a 44' diameter trunk and a huge canopy. I have much respect for the professionals that do this type of work. Here he is about 20- 25' up and went higher to get other limbs. I climbed many poles over 30 + years doing facility maintenance and repair but not sure I would do this.... [Linked Image]
