I caught some nice small mouth out there in the late eighties.
I donโ€™t think I have ever caught a smallmouth off a bed . Congrats !!

Are they stocking PK with smallmouth again? The TPWD stocking page doesn't show it but that doesn't mean much. I think they only update it every 10 years or so.

Back in the 90's we would catch a good many smallmouth on PK when striper fishing in the heat of the summer.

Not sure if they re stocked them but heard they got in the lake thru the streams or rivers from upstream lakes....

There has been a couple of small stockings with adult brood fish the last couple years but nothing like they used to do

Ok, peaked my interest! Where's a good place to stay by the lake, or a marina hotel on the water? Dad and I fished it many times in the late 80's/early 90's. That was when you could see down in the water 20+' ! That is what I remember the most. I want to spend a few days/nights out there exploring.

Nice job on the smallie on a bed. Pretty cool deal!

Not just a ton of places to stay out there. Possum Hollow has some cabins (on the west side of the lake) Golden Cove has some on the east side of the lake. Lots of pricey VRBO places too
