My buddy Ed from Ed's guide service fishes almost every day. He normally bait fishes with shad but if he catches a sunfish he hangs onto it. We were in a pretty constant bite on Sunday when he pulled a sunfish out of the bait tank. He cut off the dorsal and decided to give it a shot. We knew it would take a while to get bit and it did but it was the best fish of the day! He let the fish play with it until it finally buried the rod...

I guess Striper like blue gill. I've caught them on cut blue gill when I was catfishing.

God does not charge time spent fishing against a man’s allotted life span. “Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers,” Herbert Hoover. “I spent most of my money on fishing. The rest I wasted,” Author Unknown.

I use them at PK when I can't find shad. They work but not as good as threadfins, plus they attract LM Bass more.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Caught many and my biggest Striper at Texoma on live perch. This one was back in '99. 37lbs Plus my biggest Hybrid from Tawakoni back in '87 at 14lbs. They love 'em! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/04/full-7858-136347-dcp_0291.jpg)

He likes to put one on or a big shad if he catches one. You have to wait a little longer to set the hook but the results speak for themselves! As actively as striper feed, I’m sure every small fish is on the menu!

Fish are opportunistic feeders, you would be hard pressed to find a fish of any species that won’t suck down a live sunfish. I bet a tank full of 2-4” ones would tear up the striper, I catch a lot of striper and hybrids on sunfish and big shiners in the spring. Catch a lot of sandbass on the smallest ones, and crappie will tear up a 2-3” sunfish.

I was finally able to put together the full video of the last trip! You have to love spring fishing! The fish are hungry, super responsive to thumping and easy to catch! These fish didn't tap the bait, they slammed it! This is my favorite time of year for fishing!
