The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our third members only tournament of 2022 on Saturday April 9th at Cedar Creek Lake. A very chilly start to the morning gave way to bluebird skies and typical strong spring winds. 33 boats came out to fish with us and fishing was pretty good with 9 limits brought to the scales. Surprisingly no giants were caught but plenty of good ones. Coming out on top was the team of Ronnie Manning and Capp Peace with a stout bag that weighed 20.35 pounds. Big Bass of the tournament went to Brandon Putnam and Joey Deans with a 5.83 tank that bit a topwater. Here are full results and pictures.

So Chris and I are fishing in the Caney arm about 11:30 and we hear a commotion on the far shore and here in the middle of the day come 11 deer who proceed in to the lake, swim across the channel and run off in to the yards on the other side. Strange but true

I was doing weigh in duty this month and Chris manned the camera so if it took longer than normal to weigh fish and the pictures are a bit better that was why

A rare Jerry Brown sighting in the wild

Mark Calhoun and Keith Green weighed in one on the day

Shellye Crawford's guide, husband James doesn't put her on numbers but the quality was there with this 4.26

Jim Phillips and Randy Bridges weighed in three

Patrick Sharp fished with David Burton and weighed this nice 5.45

Great day. We culled a few times, and put quite a few 2.5#ers back in the water. Capp was concentrating on catching them off the beds while I fan casted everywhere I could throw. I caught one of the 5's that was not locked on a bed and roaming. Also, had quite a few on a bladed bait. We talked about the continuation of the LOVE/HATE relationship with Cedar Creek... there is no in between! LOL!
