My neighbor and I are planning our first trip to Lk Somerville this week. Will be doing a little fishing for both black bass and crappie. Already aware of the 17 Public Fish Attractors set out. Not looking for any specific locations or waypoints. But would appreciate any recommendations on what part of the lake to focus on (Upper, Mid, Lower) and which boat ramps are actually open and accessible.
I've scoured Google and the Web and know there are 11 boat ramps, but the US Army Corp of Engineers site (
https://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/somerville/recreation/Boating/Boatramps.asp) lists that 4 are currently closed. I've called a couple of phone numbers for both them and Texas Parks, but have had to leave messages at all numbers. Can't seem to get anyone to call me back.
will be coming from the Georgetown area and was thinking about launching mid lake. Anyone know if the Birch Creek Forest #1 ramp is Open and Accessible to the lake?
We welcome any other recommendations? TIA!
