I am looking for comfortable long sleeve shirts. I know being hot is just part of the game but if something is out there that you guys recommend, I would like to hear about it. I would rather be hot because of the need for uv protection but sometimes it limits my time trying to enjoy outdoor/water activities. With the risks of intense sun exposure price is not that much of a concern...what are some options worth checking out..?

I like these from Academy. Never gotten a sunburn yet wearing them, and they're actually fairly comfortable even on hot days.

I like thin, loose, full-length, biking jerseys with zippers, and made with four-way stretch material, of an open mesh that allows ventilation. The zipper allows you to quickly full ventilate when facing away from the Sun, then quickly zip up when turning into the sun. Not really the fishing look, but where I go there's nobody there to see me anyway, haha. I also use loose rubber gloves with the finger tips cut off to protect the critical back of my hands. The gloves' cut open finger tips allow for ventilation, quick-drying and easy on and off. Works for me, but not for everyone, haha!

Just got a few of the Magellan Angler Pro shirts. Kicking myself for not getting them a long time ago. Forty bucks at Academy.

In terms of being cool I like the long sleeve pullover shirts vs. the button ups. I have Columbia, Huk, Magellan and Under Armor and the Baleaf shirts on Amazon are just as cool and comfortable. I certainly don't expect them to last as long but for under 25 bucks hard to go wrong. CLICK

I will check some of these out. I have tried 100% cotton and poly blends just doesn't seem to be much airflow or ventilation thru the fabric . I may just need to suck it up and deal with it otherwise...Thanks for the info

I like the hoodies these days... keeps the sun off the back of my neck and ears.. kinda expensive but the reflective dots might be worth it

Is sun screen not enough?

Sunscreen wears off and most people do a lousy job of reapplying especially on the back of the neck.
I like the Columbia PFG long sleeve polyester shirts with a Buff and baseball cap.
The Academy Magellan polyester shirts run a little bit smaller and are tighter around my neck. I gave 2 of them to my skinny nephew.
I also like the designs on the Howler Brothers Loggerhead long sleeve shirts. I tend to wear them if I am on a boat and not a kayak.
Simms, Huk and Pelagic also make fishing shirts similar to the Columbia PFG shirts with nicer designs but I have not tried them.

The key is covering up with something comfortable to you. It is hard to find an 80 year old man who says I wish I got more sun when I was younger.

Well said PowerLizard probably had at least 20 basal/squamous cell cut off me or treated other painful ways. Not to mention a thousand or more precancers frozen or treated other painful ways. Now I wear a hat. sun screen and the Magellan long sleeve shirts but like the Columbia better. I also have several of the old Guide shirts which are close to the Columbia. Damage was done years ago though and they just keep coming back. Dermatologists love me since at least I have good insurance. And I have a ways to go before I am 80.

Had to add don't forget your sunglasses. My optometrist advised me last visit I will need cataract surgery soon.

I don't want to keep reapplying but I still use it when out for short periods.
