What are your thoughts on the Spawn this year? I'm hearing that it hasn't even gotten good yet and I'm hearing that it's over. I went fishing two weeks ago and caught some males up shallow but i was thinking that they may have been done. Hearing some people suggesting that they are not and the big push is yet to come. I personally think they are pretty much finished.
You?
Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state. But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

Picking has been very slim in and around the Neches River near Dam B...can't find more than two or three. Temperatures have been u and down her 70-80's in day, 30's-50's at night...mostly males, but the few females caught are not real full of eggs.

I am still catching males and the females I do catch are not quite ready to drop their eggs. Dropping lake levels are not helping the situation.

We are 2 -3 weeks behind this time last year IMO. Even fish down south are 3/4 of the way not spawned out

Caught a couple females on the Brazos a few weeks ago, trolling for sandies. They had eggs in them, but weren't full and ready to drop yet. If I were to guess in the warmer bodies of water it should be just about game on.

Been catching mostly females past 2 wks, none spawned yet. Eggs were close to separation and some separating. Went this morning and only 3, all males. Wind blew us out by 9:30. Water temp dropped 3-4 degrees from Monday. Constant north wind is a killer for a spring crappie bite. Spawn is not over. Guide friend at Fork fishing Crappiefest said he hasn't caught a female yet that was spawned out.

We are having a late spawn this year, these cold nights are keeping the water temp down.

We are having a late spawn this year, these cold nights are keeping the water temp down. I would be fishing it hard these next few weeks as the spawn will be completely over in 2 weeks in my opinion. A lot of waves have already spawned and the last wave is spawning now. Stick and move move and stick till you find them. Go Get EM !!!

We need some warm nights with temps in the high 60's. We had had several warm days but the nights are still a bit chilly. I think the spawn has just been late this year due to the weather.

How is the spawn at Granger Lake? I plan to go out this weekend and fish both brush piles and shallow water in protective coves.

The spawn on LBJ lake hasn't happened yet. 2-3 weeks ago I was catching some males in the Llano arm where the rivers goes from 4' to 20" with minnows but nothing since. I was targeting Sand bass and the Crappies mixed in with em.
