Had a chance to sneak out yesterday and do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Fish for blues when there are up in the dirt

Had a 1/2 day trip with Chad Ferguson
Even with the wind we went out and targeted blues in less than 2’ of water Crazy seeing the fish splash when they hit the bait
Cut Shad on a short leader santee rig on basically nothing but mud flats
Caught 33 eater sized fish

FishKiller... very nice fish

Rickt300 Be very careful headed north. Had some section 3' to 6"
Very nice double decker pontoon ran wide open to get stuck.

Also be careful full at the boat ramp up there.
Walk it so you know where the holes are it, they will eat your axle
On the trailer.

Best Cajun Line:

It's a little over 3 feet low.

Island area is pretty sketchy right now, especially on the South side. I haven't checked, but I'd bet you could walk half way out into the lake from Shady Grove, and barely get your ankles wet.

I want to head out there, but I'm just not fighting this kind of wind.

For sure yesterday was a no go. Hauled the boat with us but wasn’t going to even chance it
Fished off the dock at the house and caught a few but went anything like it was shallow

My home lake is just under 5 feet low, amazing how many places I usually fish are bare gravel and rock. 3 feet low means Eagle mountain boat ramps are getting sketchy. I normally launch at Augies and fish EM later in the year.

Augies was the lowest I'd seen it in a long time when I went out there last weekend to try and net some bait.

Chad is definitely one of the best catfish anglers in Texas. I bet you learned a few things Chris.

Not only did we learn a lot while in the boat with Chad, we also laughed a lot, some of his stories are comedy gold. He's a blast to hang out with.

JP, Coon, and I need to get together and do a trip! Even with the sized boat Chad has I'm not sure it could handle all the BS that would go on....
