Yes there are crappie in lake whitney. Look up Lake Whitney on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website and it will tell you about crappie in that lake. Or if you have the Fishbrain app go to Lake Whitney on the map and go to logged catches and there will be quite a few pictures of crappie coming out of that lake.

We caught a bunch of fish on the N end last year. Only time I’ve been there. Pretty lake but coming from E Tx the size was lacking!

Used to find them in Nolan River Park years ago. Heard that USACE stopped maintaining it and it is hard to get back in there because the roads are 4x4 only. Caught quite a few during the early spawn.

There are some there. But they ain't the biggest. Seem to go in cycles for size from year to year. And gotta know what they are doing, pending time of year. And whether you're on the upper or lower end of the lake. Some days a minner, some days a jig.

Just seems like the last 2 years they have been off. Before that we had tons at our boat slip in Harbor Master and at Juniper Cove as well .Maybe it's just me and it is to early but it seems like they should be pouring it on and spawning by now .

Just seems like the last 2 years they have been off. Before that we had tons at our boat slip in Harbor Master and at Juniper Cove as well .Maybe it's just me and it is to early but it seems like they should be pouring it on and spawning by now . It’s not too early spawn is almost over. I have learned just because they are on one bank or certain tree tops laying in a creek or boat slip one year doesn’t mean they are on that exact same spot the following. Now with that said they are there close by and there is several waves of the spawn. Stick and move move and stick pitch cork and move move and pitch the ole slipper cork in there till you find them. Again the crappie spawn is just about over as this is the last wave. Also sometimes you can back off the bank in 3 to 4 foot of water in a creek and bam there they are as they havnt moved up to spawn yet or they are done and are still hanging out. Go get em ! Ps dock shooting should crank up soon too as they will be coming off them spawning beds and under those shady docks !! That’s fun the month of May along with shallow brush and timber. Go get em !!!
