we don’t have frogs that big down here, guess everything eats them too quickly. Got some that are close Grout. I have a 30 acre flood control tank about 4 miles from me that is loaded with them. I use a rod and reel with a 4 inch worm and catch them all the time. All you have to do is to spot them close to the bank and then cast the worm on the bank near them. Twitch it a couple of time and they will eat it up. Set the hook and the fight is on. Just be sure to not put too much grease in the pan for the legs as they will kick some out sometimes. Have you ever seen any at any of the lakes? McQueeny, Placid, Choke, etc. A few on Placid but none on the others.

The frog grabs the bait like a Pitbull and won't let go. I have never had it happen with a frog but I have hooked a lizard with a fly right after tying it on before casting it.

They wont kick if you remove the yellow tendon like string that runs down the length of the leg. When you cut the legs off, look for the yellowish string thing at the top. use the edge of your knife and your thumb and squeeze it and pull....the entire thing will pull out of the leg and no more kicking when cooking.

A Bull Frog will eat just about anything you put in front of him. Caught many of them on Raven using a frog, worms work great also. As JLStevens says, pull the nerve out of the leg and it wont kick.
Reality. What a concept!

Is frog gigging still much of a thing? When I was a kid (10-12), a friend lived on a farm with several ponds and we would have a blast gigging frogs from the bank. There was something about going out without an adult in the pitch black with only a flashlight that was so exciting.
