Have you all seen any college athletes on T.V. doing commercials yet?

I've seen none in my small viewing market.

We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. I see a disaster in the making. Seems like college football asked for this for years and now have no idea how to control it. The potential is there to cripple college athletics. Just my opinion.

“ A class of 2023 five-star football recruit has reportedly signed a name, image and likeness deal with a school’s collective that could be worth more than $8 million by the end of junior year of college, according to The Athletic. ”

NCAA = No Clue At All

Doesn't matter if you like it or not, it was coming. They went in with little to no structure. From NIL to Men in women's sports, the NCAA is as mismanaged as they come.

I think it's more of a way for boosters to give athletes money legally rather than under the table like it used to be. Also a great tax write off now for the boosters.
Ya, you'll have your one here and there that will sign a big deal with a big company. But the majority will be "sponsorships" from donors.

I just wonder how it will play when a star quarterback is banking millions and the 5 or 6 guys protecting him are getting a little or nothing? Could make for some interesting times. I don’t really care because a lot of the coaches, players, and fans are pretty much getting what they have wanted.

The Big's just got bigger and the small medium schools just became insignificant.

So it's just like the NFL then?

this ^^^^^^ they are ruining all sports. When a ball player can get a 500 million contract for ten years to play a game, we have lost sight of what is important. just my .02

The next thing coming is just like with professional sports, caps on how much players can make through NIL deals.
Between the transfer portal and the amount of money the big and powerful schools have, the next thing to work out is schools buying out players and creating a stacked team. It will get to the point to where there will be 6 - 10 schools that have all the top athletes in the country and nobody can compete with them.

To answer the OP's question , yes . Yes I have here. Of course my state only has basically 1 known school , but I've seen around 3 players with sponsorship that's done some commercials

This is not the fault of the NCAA who wanted nothing more to keep the status qou as it was five years ago where they could make money on an athlete's name, image or likeness. It was only when California said that it was illegal since no compensation was being given to the athletes that the NCAA changed their tune. Schools cannot pay student athletes with NIL deals but other entities can.

People talk about a cap on earnings but how legal is that? You are basically saying a person can only be paid a certain amount for their work when someone is willing to give them more than the set amount.

Minus the salary cap to keep things in parity.

No, not really. Everyone in the NFL makes a minimum of $660,000 per year. In college, there will be a lot of players making $0 and some making millions. No rules and no control.
