A couple more from a scrub photographer...
I was told by a professional artist these were good. Michael, your honest opinion? I think they'll be better printed, the compressed jpg image format kills the dynamic range.
This is an abandoned cabin that sits at about 5300 feet on the west slope of Haleakala, Maui. It's in a tropical dry forest, so it's better preserved than if it were in a rainforest environment. The hike to the cabin is pretty easy, but it requires 4WD (by law) to get to the tailhead unless you want to hike an extra three miles or so each way. I visited this location twice, once as part of a six-mile loop hike and once as part of an eight-mile hike on mostly different trails.
The trails are muddy and torn up by wild pigs. They're easy to scare up and they run like mad, but you can almost never lay eyes on them because the forest is so thick. I only got a good look at the backside of one in the entire 14 miles of hiking.
