I guess 6-8ft. I must use a rope to go down slowly.

All the banks I have went down are at least 15-20 ft

I would agree, walking into the first step from the parking lot mentioned earlier. The one just north of Tractor supply was easy, but the drop down to the water was near vertical and sketchy. If you go in, wear good boots and a walking stick is good. I was taught when I was young, if your going to be walking into ponds/creeks you have to obey the first rule. And I taught my kids the same. Rule #1 is don't walk into water sources without a walking stick. Any stick is better than none, and you are free to upgrade along the way. I grew up in an area that had many water moccasin's, and damn things are good swimmers. Luckily they stay on top of the water, and are easy to deter with a stick. I have several friends that finished the day fishing without the last eye on rod. Fishing poles are the worst snake whacking sticks. Haven't seen any snakes lately, but as it gets warmer we will. I think the beavers have really exploded on the creek. From just above 377 bridge to TC ramp the beavers are everywhere. When you see the white sticks floating in the water without bark, a beaver den is close.

But the banks are steep in the upper areas, and lookout for the dark fine mud which is slicker than ice.

The mud is a real factor. Bank fishing that creek within 5 days of rain means a lot less viable real estate is available to cast from. Bring extra clothes or at the very least shoes to change into before you drive home. I have taken several lbs of mud home on my clothes from that creek.

21.5 ft center console

How far can I make it up the creek from marshall creek (trophy Club) boat ramp, even if just running trolling motor with the current water level?

About 3/4 of a mile past 377. Assuming you get past the concrete wall.

I was fishing at the wall-actually standing on a section near the bank- yesterday and a guy passed by with a 16’ flat bottom, motor barely in the water to pass. He was going real slow but he didn’t scrape. Oh and I caught a few (6) on rooster tails. 3 good ones and 3 dinks.

Went out in my kayak from Trophy Club Park...first one in the parking lot and launched right at daybreak.

Caught two males on a Rat-L-Trap a few bends from the ramp.

Paddled and fished all the way to the bridge...caught two keepers and 1 dink right at the ramp....most folks I talked to all day on the river hadn't had much luck. Graphed ALOT of what I thought to be gar (see picture) which looked like carp turning over on top.

Good trip scouting trip before I attempt to bring the kids...too far to paddle to the bridge before it gets hot so think we will spend our time (fish or not) not too far from the ramp...7miles round trip paddled and I was tired...in the water at 7am...made it back around 12:30pm (fishing all along the way).

If you are in a kayak, be warned to stay shallow around the bends...it amazes me how fast folks fly through there on a boat..seems awfully dangerous given how many stickups I saw mid-channel just under the surface

Three kiddos just finished eating what really amounted to a snack of sandbass...hopefully, we can turn that into a whole meal soon!

I was in the lime green Wilderness Systems Commander kayak if I saw y'all yesterday!

Sunday was a struggle fest with only 5 fish on the line, all relatively small. Anyone do any better? Any signs of the fish spawning out and returning to the lake already?

They are stacked up in small areas with current. Limit out in an area the size of a mattress and nothing else anything where. I don't feel the main spawn has happened yet. There simply hasn't been enough rain

I fished for the green fish all day today, all the creeks coming into the lake are heavily stained. I did not go up, stayed on the lower end. I saw rain reports in Flowermound 2.5"-3", but 1-1.5" on the south side of the lake. I can imagine that Denton Creek is rolling. I caught sandbass on the dam this morning with a jerk bait, and some on the bank near Rock Ledge park. Lake is rising, good to see water moving. Bass fishing is good, don't know anything positive for chasing the sandbass at this time. Will be working the next 4 days, hope all are well.

Thank you for the report.

The creek is on FIRE today. Son and I caught over 30 fish between 7am-9am. They seem to be hanging out in the pools early and then working their way up some of the riffles as the sun comes up.
