there were 2 gators, about six or seven feet long, in copeland creek back in the 90's but poachers decided they didn't need to be there. I have also seen a couple of small ones on the north end above the 155 bridge.

There are No Gators in Lake O The Pines. I had heard there are some below the dam but not on the lake. Go up on the north end to the rock dam and get out of the boat and roam around into the sloughs. You will see their slides and prints. I've been way up past that. Those are nutra rat and beaver slides. Tons of them up there. I'm sure glad I know the difference now... since I ran a trap line up there for years and caught many nutria/beaver.

Good point....because the existence of bigfoot and alligators is just almost identical. And for those that have been fishing on Pines and never seen a gator....keep looking and you will one day.
It's amazing how many friends I have that have hunted all of their lives and have never seen a Mountain Lion.....maybe those don't exist either? Oh wait....I've seen 3 of them.....or because they haven't....maybe that means I am lying or making it up.

In the 90s my wife worked at lake Cherokee. They took them out of Cherokee often. She was I contact with TP&W and the lake patrol daily. An 8 footer was taken out of the Johnsons creek area on the pines but that was long ago.

Yes, I have seen several gators above and below 155 bridge. More above though. There aren't any "giants," but plentiful of 5-8 footers

Grew up in north Louisiana and lived there the first 31 years of my life and never saw but two in the wild but now the lakes there are full of them from what I understand, they've migrated north from the coastal areas over the decades. They will eventually spread to every area that weather will allow them to live. When baby gators hatch out, they are allowed to live around the adult gators but as they mature into adolescent gators the adult gators start pushing them out of their territory, so they have to find a new place to live. They'll eventually repopulate every area they lived where they were hunted to extinction. I don't know how far north or west that will be, but time will tell.

So can we legally shoot them in Texas? Not sure what the purpose of protecting them would be... The video of one charging at a blue kayak on caddo freaks me out. I could see them being attracted to the commotion when bringing a bass into a kayak or a kid playing on the shoreline. Alligator Charging Kayak
