My friend Steve wanted to make a "Dinner Run" on some fish. We fished a couple of spots on a creek and the bite was good. Fish are getting active and we did not see any nest. We caught bass, Redbreast, Redear, Hybrid Sunfish, and Bluegill. Some were kept by Steve for the dinner table and most were released. Worms was the bait, with both float and bottom techniques being used. We fished from 2p till 6p and caught about 50 fish. A good afternoon, fishing a creek with a friend. It just don't get any better! fish

Butch Sanders: Thanks for the reply. As for cleaning Bluegill/Sunfish, I personally scale, gut, and cut of the head. My friend also does the same. I do have several friends and anglers I know who fillet them . The fillets are small from the average sunfish but they fry up very nice. The fish I clean also fry up nice. The meet peels of the bones easily. As for the fillets there are usually no bones at all. Love them both ways. For Crappie and White Bass I always fillet them. I am going to start filleting my sunfish more often. thumb

That's great thumb A fun day of fishing and a good meal. I use to say, " I don't eat blue gill those are bait" until I tried blue gill and now I never pass on a good sized one or two or a bucket full for a delicious meal. I like to scale and cut the head off then score and whole fry with a corn meal batter. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

God does not charge time spent fishing against a man’s allotted life span. “Fishing is much more than fish. It is the great occasion when we may return to the fine simplicity of our forefathers,” Herbert Hoover. “I spent most of my money on fishing. The rest I wasted,” Author Unknown.
