Nothing going on today, so I’ve watched about 45 mins of this. Where is the “more exciting” that people talk about, it’s just like BASS, watch a guy fish and then they skip to the next person that’s about to catch one.
On a different note, these guys are complaining about it being windy? That wind is a calm day on most west/south/central lakes in Texas. Does the wind not typically blow in Oklahoma?
Also, what series did Dustin Connell fish before this, FLW or BASS? Dustin - 2017 Bassmaster Elite Series Rookie, 2017 Elite Series Champion, 2015 Bassmaster Southern Open Champion  I guess I wasn’t watching much fishing back then, sounds like he’s had a great career so far.

I, for one, am just so glad that yet another MLF hater thread has been started. What else would you old curmudgeons have to bitch about....oh yeah.....HS fishing tournies, College tournies, growing the sport, ramp etiquette, people crowding you, etc., etc., etc. If a single one of you possessed 10% of the talent that it took for those guys to be fishing today for $300,000 and had that opportunity, you would do it. If you say you wouldn't, you are a liar.  Only way I would do it? They would have to reset the weights everyday so I could “stay in the hunt”! Lol.

keep in mind they have 80 fishermen in most of their tournaments and it makes a lot of sense to split the field because of the logistics and expense of providing 80 marshals,cameramen and support staff...by splitting the field to 40,they reduce that factor down to half plus it allows them to fish smaller lakes or sections of lakes...when fishermen fish on different days,you have to zero the weights because usually due to weather,the fish don't bite the same each day....
also keep in mind that MLF is providing over 800 hours of TV exposure each year to their members and sponsors whereas BASS was only able to provide about 30 hours.....

Consider the first part of the tournament the playoffs and the last day the tournament the Championship game. Championship game, everybody starts at zero just like any other sport's championship, So what if on the final day you zero all the weights during the day and only use the heaviest weight in the last hour. Would you be happy with that?

BASS did it with Mega Bucks and I did not hear you cry. Maybe if Al Gore had invented the internet sooner, we would have heard you cry when they did it with Meg Bucks.

But I think it is stupid to zero out the weights in a fishing tournament before the final day. That would be like zeroing out the score of a football or base ball game at half time. So what was the point of the first half if you zero the playing field and start over? I disagree, their format resembles a "tournament" more than the traditional. When basketball teams advance from the final four to the championship round their scores don't carry over.

To the OP.. you are totally welcome to your opinion. Mine is if you earn the spot to fish on championship Sunday.. having the final 10 fisherman start at 0 makes all the sense in the world to me. It means you have to catch fish to win.. not sit on a lead that you accumulated over the days before. Wheeler needed one more fish and he couldn't make it hit. Same for Luke Clausen.. one more fish.. just not in the cards.

What is the point of fishing several days in a row to get down to 10 on the final day. Just have a 1 day tournament with all that are entered and whoever has the most fish at the end of the day is the winner. Simple as that.

Zeroing out the weights eliminates the ability to win by having just one or two killer days that an angler rides to the finish. Also allows for the auto pass to the championship for the 2 anglers that win their qualifying rounds. Pretty simple really, but I guess if you just wanna hate on something it’s best to not actually understand it.
Also worth noting… way more threads and discussion about MLF Redcrest than the Classic here on the TFF.
