I wonder if there's a correlation between the inflationary meat prices we're experiencing and game poaching incidents? confused 3

I think if I owned property in the country, it be awful tempting to pop a deer out of season these days.

Hope I don't get crucified by the THF crowd.

I have lived in East Texas for about 50 of my 68 years. I'm not much fazed by "poaching". When I was in HS there was a guy down the road a bit that had a contract with a CC in Htown to supply venison. At least one a day was his target.

I could easily pop a bambi and no one would ever know, field butcher and meat in a cooler back to the freezer.

I would have to be awfully hungry to do it though, not worth the consequences if I should get caught.

I watch closer now for people trespassing/poaching, neighbor to the south of me has been caught red handed poaching on the mitigation land that surrounds us and is also a convicted felon so he is in deep doo with tpw.

If I was a landowner, I might be more concerned about my cows and calves. Lot more meat than a little Texas deer.

Can convicted felons have guns in their possession?

Seems like an easy fix.

It will happen, no doubt. If someone needs meat, i will shoot them all the wild hogs they can eat free of charge, but I better not catch them shooting the deer on my place or anyone elses.

Some people have ethics, some donโ€™t. I can assure you more shooting is happening than normal. Hope the high percentage is hogs though and not deer!
