Well after going through the issue of hitting a underwater stump and cracking the hull on my bass boat I’m going back to aluminum. I pulled the pin yesterday on a 2017 G3 gatortough 17 SC. It’s got a F70 hp Yamaha on it. I’m pretty excited. It has a whopping 31 hours on it! Lol This will be my second G3. I bought a 1652SC brand new in 2003 and kept it 10 year’s. It was a great boat back then. Can’t wait to get all my stuff installed on the new one. It’s just like brand new. Plus it’s going to be a lot easier to launch and load fishing alone!

Congrats on the new boat! Welcome back to the metal I own 4 boats all of them are aluminum. I fish places with way too many stumps for a fiberglass boat

Belated congrats on the ride Coolarrow. G3 makes a pretty good aluminum boat, from an engineering perspective. And metal fabricator's/welder's point of veiw. I did "structural warranty repair" for a few companies, for a few years. Hardly ever saw a G3 in the shop. Own one my self .

CONGRATS !....welcome back to the other side. LOVE MY G3 BAY 17...especially the aluminum part. After many years SCARED constantly about gel coats, scratches , cracks and dang carpet or if something broke off...I went back to a tracker for 10 years which was a tuff boat but heavy, and now I call my bay 17 my Sportster, dang thing weighs the same as my Harley...easy to launch, easy tow and I forget last time I got fuel....and running up on shore to take break..etc is care free. ENJOY !

ENJOY ! My G3 1860 DLX was totaled (along with 36 other boats) May 5th in a freak wind burst that destroyed most of the marina where I kept the boat. I'm now looking at the G3 Bay 17 as a replacement. I have two quotes from the closest dealers. One offers "buoyancy pods" on the boat, the other does not. If you have these pods on your boat, I'd appreciate your comments about their usefulness (or non usefulness).
