Now that I'm full time guiding down here on Houston TX area lakes I get to be on the water almost daily and see regardless of weather conditions and all the myths that's been applied to catching crappie they all need to be thrown in the trash......
If you want to consistently catch crappie you will have to work several times harder some days to locate crappie and once you do find the color and size jig that draw their interest and apply the action to entice them to bite.....Live tech electronics has been a big help in determining all that is needed to get them in the boat daily.....
Don't leave out scent as it can be the difference in catching a few or loading the boat..... I've been on this Smelly Jelly in garlic and shad scent available from Limits Tackle that's been working really well.....
If you wait on what's been classified as the best conditions to fish well you will be missing out.....

The answer is it depends, I’ve had days when an east wind was awesome, days when it was bad. Usually it’s the latter, because an east wind is associated with cold fronts. That being said, I’ve had some of my best days ever on blue bird days after a front rolls through, generally on rivers though. Rivers are generally less impacted by wind direction. So yes, usually east and north winds are worst fishing, but not always.

So, the barometer really gets messed up when the East wind blows, gives the fish a tummy ache, best thing ta do is sit on the porch and fish beer out of the cooler! Hope this helps!
