My son recently purchased a Garmin graph and Livescope at BPS Grapevine.
They installed it for him on my Starcraft Superfisherman and hooked everything
up to the Starting battery. First time he took it out it drained the starting
Battery after about an hour and a half of use. It's a starting battery put in in 2018 but
does not get much use. Normally it runs everything (live well pumps, old graph, radio and lights)
With no problem. Trolling motor is on a deep cycle battery up front. Thinking we should
Upgrade to a better battery and have researched batteries online where I found several
Times stated one should not put graphs and other electronics on a deep cycle battery. How about
A combination (starting and deep cycle) battery? Or, are there other starting batteries
That could handle the load of the additional units. I hate the idea of having two batteries in the back.
The Garmin graph is the only graph on board but I'm sure when coupled with the livescope there's a
lot more power demand. Also, had the battery tested at O'Reilly and they tell me it's OK. After charging it's back to its old self again.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Yes, it’s expensive. But if you just want 1 battery, it’s the best choice.

Thanks for the recommendation. Going halfsies with my son on this one so cost won't hurt to bad.

another suggestion

lion for graph/livescope and get a new start battery for the rest, your livescope will love you for it.

should be able to run the graph/ls a couple of days on this before needing a charge.

add a grp 24 deka (1000 cca) dual purpose and you got it. should be about 135.00 for the deka.

or just buy the deka for now and see if it isn't just a battery problem with current one.

I run 3 garmin 9", livescope, pumps etc. on the grp 24 dp and always lasts all day.

We recommend any name brand Group 31 AGM cranking battery. This will work good for up to two 12" graphs and Livescope. If you are running more than that, we recommend running a dedicated lithium battery for electronics. If you have questions on correctly sizing a lithium, shoot me an email at sales@russellmarineproducts.com
