And they had a blast! We ended getting several frogs and some were pretty big. I thoroughly enjoyed being out there with the kids.

It’s a lot of fun, watch out for snakes.

They are hunting those frogs also.

Oh yes. We were in a cow pasture, really clean, and didn’t see the first snake. When it gets much warmer we will have to be very careful.

I’ve caught and eaten a lot of frogs, but never gigged one.

I love eating the backs as well.

Have not done that since I was about 13. We always went to the rice fields between fm 1093 and I 10 west on Cinco ranch when it was still a ranch.

Eating the backs? Would this be cutting the frog in half at the hinge joint in his back?

If you skin a frog and a squirrel and lay them side by side, it is very hard to tell the difference between them.

When I was in the service in Oklahoma, frog hunting was one of my forms of entertainment and food in the freezer.

Use to put a dozen in the one carboard wax covered one gallon milk containers.

We used to catch a hundred or so in under an hour on the bow of an airboat in Louisiana duck ponds.

Always grabbed them by hand, have never used a gig.

Id probably rather a good night of frog hunting over any hunting or fishing trip. Its lots of fun for sure.
