I've been fishing in this state for something like twelve years, and I feel that I need to recognize that the TPWD weekly fishing report doesn't seem as repetitive and inaccurate as it used to be. https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fis...port&archive=latest&yearcat=2022There's fishing guides cited as sources, so you would think that would be a good sign? Anyone actually use the report?

I read a report for a certain lake in Texas that I have fished on several time lately. There was a good report by a local fishing guide, but the water temp stated was very questionable. I found this fishing guide's email address and asked him about the reported water temp. The stated temp was at least 15 degrees cooler than what I knew it to be. He replied that the fishing report was his, but the water temperature wasn't.

They have never been very accurate as far as the fishing goes

I think they are better. it is very dependent on who provides the information to TPWD.

There is a girl in California that has a list of names to call for reports. If you want to be a "reporter", I can get you in touch with her. No, I do not give her reports.

The attached "report" shows Canyon as GOOD for both bass and crappie! I don't need to read beyond that.

Very interesting intel, thanks.
It seems like the TPWD fishing reports used to be word-for-word the same as the ones in Lone Star Outdoor news. But lately they diverged. Probably a resale/wholesale market in fishing reports, like everything else.

Probably a resale/wholesale market in fishing reports, like everything else. That's because the Lone Star Outdoor News used to publish the TPWD fishing report, just as all the rest of the newspapers across Texas. It was distributed through the Associated Press.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

A few years ago the report for Cooper said sand bass were schooling on the humps with limits being caught. The lake was 14 feet low and all boat ramps were closed. Makes it a little hard to get out to the humps.

I went to Rebecca Creek today, middle of March, water temp 60, lake level fine, watercolor very good, pretty much a full moon. I caught five dink bass, and one just, keeper, no crappie at all. I fished channel trees (that I have caught crappie multiple times over the years), not a bump, no little fish, nothing. These trees were between Rebecca Creek and the mouth of Crames Mill. I didn't see anyone else catch a fish, and I didn't talk to anyone who had caught a fish, even the trollers looking for white bass. Would this constitute a "good" day upriver?
