Me and my old 14-foot Delhi jon boat. We had some cool adventures together but now a friend of mine is going to enjoy her. She started out as just a boat that needed a new transom for $75, a trailer that was in pieces given to me that needed literally everything on it replaced but the frame, we added seats a trolling motor, depth finder, boat anchor, and homemade power poles. In all I probably had $500 to $600 tied up in her. It just come down to even though I wanted a bass boat really bad, how bad do you want out on the water? Gona' miss the old girl but Skeeter Bug is going to take over now and provide more cool adventures.

I had a 10 ft jon boat that I could in the hatchback Vega. Fished in gravel pits and creeks in Indiana. When I was going to a creek I would take a bike with me and put the boat under the bridge, then drive to the next bridge and park the Vega then ride the bike back to the boat. Me, bike and boat would drift to the Vega. Beetle spins were the hot bait. Good times. Never had any theft or vandalism.

Even after I bought a bass boat, my john boat bug never went away. I finally bought another one last year to putter around on Wheeler branch and other electric-only bodies of water.

If we see a pretty substantial increase in duck traffic here on Cooper Lake I will most definitely be investing in another one though I may have to build what i want. I want one with no chines made out of .125 inch thick aluminum and make the frame and ribs out of 1"x1"x 1/8" thick square aluminum tubing. Install a capable mud motor and go. It will handle a little tricky with no chines but go anywhere I point it.
