On the Dobyns rod that have the limited lifetime warranty, do they really require a proof of purchase as their website says? I have my receipts for the ones I have new, but am hesitant to buy used from others if the warranty does not come with the rod. I have spoken with a few others on this and they all make it seem like all you have to do is send in the logo section of the rod and Dobyns will get you all fixed up. Just wondering if anyone has any insight here.

Just take to a retailer or call Dobyns. You have a replacement fee on broken rods. If you are trying to get full 100% warranty I believe they require receipt.

All of the details are listed here. https://dobynsrods.com/warranty/The language specifically mentions the lifetime warranty for the original owner for all lines of rods except Maverick and Colt lines which have a 1 year limited warranty. However, Dobyns stands behind their products and I have never heard of someone sending in the logo section of the rod and being denied the no hassle replacement.

Also, this may be a dumb question, but the warranty and the no hassle replacement policy are separate things right?

I've been using Dobyns Rods since Gary first started...owned too many to count. I have only had two issues and they were both met with superb customer service. Just reach out to them...I'm betting your experience will be the same.

this is the best practice. One of the main reason's I worked so hard to be apart of the Dobyns Team was the folks up there. Customer service is amongst the best in the business. They will absolutely work with you within the means to get you taken care of. Nick or Bryce will 100% make this experience seamless.

I doubt they will ask for prove of purchase. Just be prepared to pay the "replacement fee" to get another rod. Varies by model of rod, see warranty. Now, I wouldn't buy any rods in the showroom in the store, some are refurbished and repaired rods. Bought one that broke on the first good first I caught. Obvious a defective rod, as I have caught many bass with another Dobyns rod of same model. Still had to pay replacement fee. I was buying their rods on sale just as cheap from several dealers as they have listed in the showroom. Won't take a chance on those rods anymore.

Just call before you take it somewhere. Some retailers with poor customer service like Oak Ridge marina will not provide warranty service or the replacement service on Dobyns unless you bought the rod there and can prove it. I don't know why Dobyns continues to allow them to sell their rods.
The warranty is if you bought it in the last year and something happens. The hassle free replacement is where you pay a small fee (compared to the price of the new rod) and get a replacement.

Did you buy a new or refurbished rod at the Dobyns shop in Sulphur? How long did you own it before it broke? I've been working with Dobyns for years and never heard a story like that.

Considering how rods get treated it's a miracle anyone warranties them at all. Yanked in and out of boxes, stepped on, slid down the line to unstick baits, grabbed half way up while flipping fish, not to mention all the banging around when going from truck to boat or boat to boat. The list goes on and on.

When I bought the rod in October 8 in the store, I asked if it was a reburb or new or what. Tall guy looked it and said "good rod". (Not Gary). So I have no idea to the previous history of the rod. Just started using the rod the other day as it was rigged for a lizard that I starting throwing when water temp hit 55 plus. Evidently catching 10lb bass means you got pay the fee.
I don't have rod boxes. nothing got steeped on. Falcon had a better warranty in my experience.
No big deal, I have a new rod in a wrapper that will make a perfect graduation gift for my fishing buddies son. Now to found a reel to match.

So they just give you a new rod without charging a replacement fee? That's what a lot of you guys seem to imply.
I thought it should be replaced without fee since I bought it from the reburb store less than a year ago. Such a nice clean beautiful rod snapped by a 10lber.
I thought I was buying quality equipment that can handle the job. Never broke any other brand rods on a fish before. My other Dobyn rods have handled bigger bass without a problem, same model number. Had to be a defect.
