I am looking at flights and about the only one I can get has a lay over for 30 minutes at PHX. I have never been to this airport but that does not seem like enough time to get on another flight. Is PHX airport small enough to do this?

HATE the skyport, got laid over on the way back from costa rica and airline would not get us rooms.

as for transfer from AA to AA you should be in the same terminal within a few yds. of the gate.

med. sized airport right downtown.

Been in the Phoenix airport several times, the only thing I remember about it was someone thinking I was Richard Dreyfus. Guy must have been drunk or something. Dreyfus is 5'5" and I'm 6'3". Dude kept asking for an autograph, so I gave him one. So if you see a cheesy Phoenix Suns game ticket from 2006 signed by Richardo Dryfus, don't buy it. roflmao

No way I ever book a 30 minute layer over. Too many things to go wrong. They won’t hold a plane for a late arriving plane.

No, unless you’re in row 1 in first class. Then it’s a maybe!!
If your plane is delayed your screwed, if you end up in different terminals your screwed. The corridors are packed during normal hours.
I’ve been flying into Phoenix for the past 5 years at least once a month and at times a few times a month. Most flights had fellow passengers pleading to keep the aisle clear so they can make their connection.

You might well make it. PHX is a nice big airport, so I wouldn't worry too much about the terminal being overcrowded. But if you're checking baggage though, that baggage probably won't make it onto the second flight.

If you have to make a 30 minute connection, either only take carry-ons or gate check your bag.

As long as everything is on time, you should be good. But as a 35 year business traveler, I would never have a 30 minute connection. If you are checking luggage, there is a real good chance it will not make it to your connecting flight. My daughter, her husband and 4 grand kids got back from Disney World a few weeks ago. Their return flight was Orlando (MCO) - Miami (MIA) - Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). They had checked luggage and their connection in MIA was 30 minutes. They were the last people on the plane headed to DFW in MIA but their luggage never made it. She had to drive from Wylie back to DFW the next day to get their luggage. She not only learned a lesson about short connection times, she learned that you NEVER leave important medications in your luggage when checking your bags.

Charlotte is the worst on lay overs, the smaller planes are far from the big boys and they usually give you 30 min in between flights
