Have heard a ton about the ned rig and how it is a good subtle winter time fishing presentation. I had not much experience with it, but it was good to really give it a shot and see its successes. Other than getting hung often, there was not much to complain about on this trip.

Other than the rip-rap what is other good places to used the ned rig? Humps? Vegetation? Muddy bottom? Let me know your thoughts.

I also recently caught my first few fish on a Ned. My daughter caught one with a Ned recently too. Like you, I had heard a lot about the Ned but only recently tried it. We were fishing a rocky then soft bottom transition area. I also caught one in an area with a lot of leaf and other debris on the bottom. Neither of us probably fished it correctly but still caught fish. We didn't know we had a bite until we noticed a fish on the line.

Both of us used a jig head with a weedguard on the hook and didn't have much trouble getting stuck. The weedguard didn't seem to keep us from catching fish. We were using a Lunkerhunt Ned worm body that was watermelon seed in color I bought on clearance from Academy.

A friend of mine coached me on rigging and fishing the Ned. I will keep learning and using the Ned rig. I like the fact that that less experienced people can use it successfully.

My first Livescop fish a few weeks ago was also my first ned rig fish!

I just tied on one of the heads and put some in my every trip box. When I first tried them I caught fish on them but then stopped. Grande Bass rattlesnake tails work good when the senko looking part gets torn up!!

If you're getting into "the Ned", I'm a big fan of using z-mans elaztech baits for it. The buoyancy helps it stand up very well.

Yes, the Z-man plastic is very durable and buoyant as you mentioned. The 10,000 fish Sikoshi bug I was using has the same feel and boyancy to it. They call it "high buoyancy Stretch-X plastic". That one plastic has lasted me 15-20 fish. I have been very happy with it.
