Drove up and took a look at Coffee Creek and Running creek. There’s not much left of coffee creek. Running creek might be ok. There’s just not gunna be any vegetation for them to be in and us fisherman to target. What are some good tips for spawning crappie this year? What areas should be considered? I’m sure plenty of lake Fork fisherman are going to be wondering the same things when they see their spots are 30 yards up out of the water.

I thought all the worthless replies were on the Bass forum. If I could help I would but I struggle during the spawn. Actually least favorite time for me. Hope you get some helpful advice

I don’t know lake fork or never fished it as I fish Richland chambers and Somerville during the spawn. But if it where me I would Start working the north end of the lake soon in a few weeks!! I would Start working timber outside coves and creeks and work in along with brush piles then work shallow and don’t be afraid to shoot any docks too. Once the ole water temp gets to 60 and steady at around 60 I would go as shallow as I can and work out. Good luck. !

Good question by OP. What a ridiculous reply early in this thread. I just don’t understand condescending replies like that.

Id try the same general areas they’ve spawned before. I’d imagine they’ll be close to those same areas. Also you might try out in deeper water as the fish may be suspended and spawning up in the water column.

Just poking a little fun and making a joke because we’ve all heard that answer at some point when asking someone where they caught their fish. Spawn time can be great or it can be terrible, really just depends on weather conditions at any given time, constant fronts make the fish behavior difficult to predict, ESPECIALLY early on, the better fishing is lost spawn when the weather tapers off and the fish are hungry. Lack of vegetation will probably make the job easier. Goal number one is to find a south wind sheltered cove, crappie prefer hard bottoms for spawning, look for rocks, sand, or pea gravel if you can, these are all better than mud. Less vegetation means less room for them to spread out. During the spawn I find the more consistent bite is for fish that are staging or just came off the spawn, or even just spawning out a little deeper. usually 5-10’, so don’t rule out staying on brush piles and slightly deeper structure during the entirety of the spawn.

First thing I'll do when I start back fishing is reset my Lakemasters to show the lake is 6-7 feet low. Then adjust my color
coding to show the shallow depths that I think will be where they will spawn. This will provide a fast look at areas that probably were
not on my radar at normal pool level.

Docks, Rocks and timber. I honestly think it will make finding them easier and I plan on getting out there and trying soon

I am more concerned with getting around the lake with low water then where they will be spawning. My thoughts are they will be spawning in the same areas as they always do but rather keying on vegetation it will be timber.

If you are a wader then park on Hwy 19 bridge out of Emory and hit Lake Fork Creek and you can get all the crappie you need.

I'm sure they'll be alot more spawning in the trees this year. Haven't been on Fork in a while but looking forward to getting back that direction. Be careful navigating the lake right now. There's lots of stuff out there just under the surface!

For sure Slew,..everyone watch the depths on your trolling motors (mine is adjustable), and your Live Scopes etc...
I watch the graphs as we search, and Debbie is always watching the water,...easy does it.

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10
