Those fish weren't there 5 years ago. It's more about timing. Livescope plus the lake peaking. It's not like livescope is being used on every other lake for a bunch of 13+. I agree Jarrett. Five yrs ago those 14 pounders weren't 14 pounds. They were 7. All of those fish I've seen from Ivie appear to be very young fish. I would bet every dollar I have that most of them are only 10-11 yrs old. Ken - will SAL release that kind of info? That would be very interesting.

First the fish have to be there and Ivie obviously has them but the common theme is scoping. How many fish over 13# have been caught without LS at Ivie in the past 2 years?
In my opinion it has completely ruined the “sport” of fishing.
I have a friend that scopes and he can beat 90% of us with 1 rod and a spinnerbait.
The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

But the technology has been evolving for years - pingers to paper graphs to LCDs to down scan and side scan. Those who chose to take the time and learn those new technologies kicked 90% of our butts too. When FFS becomes affordable to the masses there will be something else. I see underwater cameras with a distance scale in the not to distant future.

Those bass were/are there all along. The same with all the other lakes where SAL's and other double digits are being caught right now and last year.
It all has to do with the "new electronics" and the anglers understanding how to use them.
And it sure isn't over yet. I agree with this. There are huge fish in many lakes, people just read about guys catching them in Ivie or Fork or Falcon and rush there as if those are the only places they live. Possum Kingdom. Eagle Mountain. Coleman. They're everywhere. We don't need to drive all over the state and fish on top of each other to find them. I hooked into a fish last June while fishing at night that surfaced three or four times before twisting and destroying my 3/0 hook. I saw her and I think she was a Sharelunker. That was on a relatively small lake not known for huge fish. I also briefly saw one on a bed at another East Texas lake that may be the largest fish I have ever seen in the water. She wasn't locked on, left, and I never saw her again. That was on a Sunday and I had to work during the week. I wish I could have gone back to try to catch her. That lake isn't known for producing huge fish, or at least I haven't heard about any teeners in the 30 years I have known about it. Livescope has changed not only the game, but should change the way we think about fishing and our lakes.

Yes I am anxiously awaiting to hear from their guy that does the genetic sequencing. I will bet money the recent 17 from Ivie was one of these fish. If I'm wrong I'll admit it. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/03/full-19947-130708-from_skitch.jpg)
