Can anyone help? I’m tired of throwing away leftover minnows so I froze about 2 dozen tonight. I remember growing up my grandpa made his own stink bait and It always had minnows in It. This was the thick stuff that you just pushed a treble hook into and It stayed on. Any help would be appreciated.

Disregard. Looked It up online and seems like more work than I care for. I’ll buy a tub of punch bait and mix the minnows in with It.

Go buy a cast net and use the shad collected by throwing the cast net.............you'll be glad you did

I do that mostly. These were leftover minnows from crappie fishing.

My son in law and I make this and it works great for channels and small eater blues.
30 lbs cheese
2 liters molasses
6 lbs peanut butter
8 lbs cotton seed meal
10 lbs beef fat
2 liters menhadin oil
bottle of garlic
Mix together well and stir inn cat tails until you get the texture you need
We put a gallon of pig blood in the last batch we made and it works great!!!!

and you end up with enough catfish bait to last the remaining years of your life and your kid's and their kids!!

just throw in the towel and buy Stubby's...i've fished with, what i thought, was the best stinkbait ever made...Quanah bait made from dried minnows...it was gr8...then i found Stubby's...all i ask is just give it ONE try...2 - 40 oz tubs $37...will ketch more catfish than u can imagine

I wish I had seen your post before going to the bait store. I ended up with a tub or sureshot. Looks just like what my grandpa used to make. We’ll see how It goes. I’ll get stubbys next time.

I don’t use prepared baits very often but that stuff is the best i have ever used. Clean and doesn’t stink as much as the others.
Slip bobber, couple of split shot and a #4 XXX treble hook.

Shad, cut bait, nightcrawlers, or live minnows will outfish just about any prepared bait you can get. The key in my opinion is to catch your own bait, a minnow caught in a creek that feeds the water body you’re fishing is far better than anything you Buy.

I’m betting that my boy Littlewheel can out fish anyone on this forum using his Stubbies prepared bait vs cut or live bait. It wouldn’t even be close. You can fish your whole life using Shad, nightcraelers, minnows, and never have a day with the numbers he puts up with Stubbies on a consistent basis. It’s not Trophy Bluecat bait but both Shannon and Stubby catch fish by the 100s on that stuff day after day year after year and I’ve caught 100 fish on cut bait maybe 2-3 times and I fish cut bait just about every week for the last 30 yrs. If I was trying to learn to catch eaters I would listen to Littlewheel as he is a Catfishing machine! You can trust what Shannon says as truth because he’s proven himself countless times on this forum and is one of the most well respected and liked guys here.
