I’ve had one for about 2 months now. Like the OP mentioned, on paper it’s the best of both worlds. First couple of trips I had 20 pound floro on it and could not get any combination of settings that would stop it from backlash. Normally I’d blame the line but I have the same line on two other shimano reels. I went down to 17 on it and there was a big improvement but still not quite right. I get a backlash about every 6 cast. I’ll probably repurpose it and used it with 12 to 15 floro and other techniques.
I planned to buy a few more but am now rethinking that plan. The reel that seems to perform the best to me of the lower end Shimano is the SLX MGL. What I like most is the external break adjustment. It really helps when there are wind changes or switching baits. Update on my original post: This morning I discovered the break wheel on my mgl 150. No idea how I overlooked it. This solved all my problems. It was up to the front left of the reel. Probably gonna buy a few more now that I know it was operator error. My centrifugal breaks were never engaging as the wheel was on level 1.

I will say I've been selling a ton of 150's lately. All the feedback has been positive when I ask how they like them, shoot me a message if you're looking to pick some up.

I caught my 11.2 on a $99 [censored] pro reel and a 6'6 All star Emerald rod. You don't need a $1k set up to catch a nice fish lol. I do wish they had the lighter set ups back in the day when I did tourny fishing. Them rigs get heavy on day 3 😁

Definitely has mid-level features though.

Question for those that own both reels,,,,do you like the Curado 150MGL better than the Curado K ?
Never mind, I just ordered one of each for me to test out.

Agree, I have the 200K and mgl 70. I bought the mgl 150 thinking it would be better than either. The 150's backlash for me more than either the 70 or the 150. I am trying to throw light weight lures like a fluke with it. Returned the 150's waithing for mgl 70's to come in.
