For the last 6 months or so I have really been into making home made bread . I started with the wife's Bread machine . Really easy and makes some really good bread in 3 hours . Now I made some from scratch and baked it in a pan along with a loaf of french bread. I got another bread machine for XMas for the lake house and always make a fresh loaf when I go down by myself to munch on . I think I will start making some to freeze now for later .
Anyone else here make their own ?

Mother made "big bread" [as my daughters called it], of course kneading it by hand...she made it for communion at our Methodist Church in Crowell...Mam-maw made it back in the 50's...i loved eating the dough...Mam-maw got the live yeast from her Mother so i'm the 4th generation to keep the yeast alive...but i'm lazy...i use a breadmaker...my wife mixes the flour/sugar with the dough and i throw it n the machine...been making bread for 20 years...have to renew it about every 2-3 weeks so i give it to everybody and they love it...

crapyetr Loved the way our house smelled when we got home from school when moma made bread . I can still hear her say " I will whoop your butt if you stomp in my kitchen and make my bread fall ! " I used the wifes Wolgang Puck machine and took it to the lake house . The one I got for X Mas is a cheap Walmart one . It's ok but make the crust way to hard .That is why I am making it in a mixer bowl and trying to do it on my own . Plus it gives my arthritis in my hands a work out LOL

I’ve started making the no knead yeast bread
Back in Oct. and evolved into wild yeast sourdough .
Haven’t bought bread since.
Don’t think I’ll be grinding my own flour,
But may buy some ancient / heirloom grain flour
from the small mills in Waco & Dripping Springs.
All these breads are no knead you strengthen the
Gluten by stretching and folding .
Can’t beat a nice thick buttered slice of sourdough
