The corn farmers are not going to be happy. Maybe the cattle ranchers will be! Add the deer hunters And brewers. The farmers can go back to growing more hops and barley

When I toured the Miller Brewery they touted that the grains they used were fed to cattle. They explained that in the brewing process they were extracting the sugar from the grain to make their beers. They then dried it and sold it as fed to ranchers saying it was more nutritious for livestock... Wouldn't the same be true for corn used to make ethanol???... Dan

I just never thought making fuel out of food was a good idea. Ethanol changed the Midwest farming culture dramatically. Lots of government subsidies made it work for a while.

Lots of government subsidies made it work for a while. subsidies to mega corp. farms. doubt the subsidies will go away any time soon either due to that. How much does the US government subsidize ethanol? The ethanol subsidy, which is commonly referred to as the "blender's credit," offers ethanol blenders registered with the Internal Revenue Service a tax credit of 45 cents for every gallon of pure ethanol they blend with gasoline.Sep 4, 2021 https://www.thoughtco.com/understanding-the-ethanol-subsidy-3321701

The food for fuel argument is really pretty lame. There is not a shortage of food. And corn is not very high on the list of nutritious crops.
The real argument against ethanol as a fuel source is that it is very extremely inefficient. Making ethanol involves a triple distillation process. That means you have to boil it until it completely evaporates three times. This is usually done using natural gas as a fuel source. Sometimes it is done using electric burners, and sometimes that electricity is provided by diesel powered generators.
All of this is done to create a fuel that burns cleaner than gasoline on a per gallon basis. But the reality is we are burning 1.5 to 2 gallons of gasoline to produce a gallon of ethanol. And that gallon of ethanol can only drive your car about 70% as far as a gallon of gas could. So basically, we are creating almost twice the carbon emissions by using ethanol.

Ethanol from corn costs about $1.74 per gallon to produce, compared with about 95 cents to produce a gallon of gasoline. "That helps explain why fossil fuels -- not ethanol -- are used to produce ethanol," Pimentel says. "The growers and processors can't afford to burn ethanol to make ethanol.

MIT says….. Federal ethanol mandates in the United States have played an important role in the increase in corn prices, which are approaching $7 a bushel, up from historical norms of $2 to $3. The mandates—called the renewable fuel standard—require fuel distributors to use a certain amount of ethanol each year, with the amount increasing each year. https://www.technologyreview.com/2011/03/23/196198/ethanol-blamed-for-record-food-prices/

The corn farmers are not going to be happy. Lobbyists were always the reason for this. When we clean out DC we must have laws preventing the lobbies and we must have term limits.

Whatever with this ethanol nonsense. All I know is that Brandon didn’t give me any free money this year. As a result, he lost my vote.
If the libs are going to level the playing field, we might as well vote for a GOPer.

That corn gas is no good. That being said, letting something sit up is no good too. We are all guilty of it.
