Great day...Got to the lake at 8:30 & left at 5 pm. Pretty chilly start, but warmed up quick. Water temp was 58 or 59 degrees every where I went, and winds medium to light all day. Park Prairie has started closing during the week, but Oak Thicket is still open all week. Now for the fishing...This was my best bass day of the year, and one of my best days ever. End up with 48 but lots of big girls played today. Had one over 7 lbs, one over 5 lbs & lots of 2.5 to 3.5 lb fish. The 7.16 lb bass is my 3rd biggest ever, and put up an awesome fight...it was touch & go because I was solo & had to make some split decisions about net or not net...but it all worked out. Also found a bass with a giant tilapia stuck in its throat ...got that fixed & she swam away...tilapia not so lucky...The bass in the lower right hand side of the collage is that fish. All fish caught on Ned Rig...tried a new color today & it worked like a champ...you can see it in the last pic...the color is called "mood ring" , but it looks like purple to me smile

Lucky 7's for sure. Nice fish Vogey. Spawning should be coming up for the bass.

Thanks Stratton, Alan, Chuck, Tom & Yesenia.

Leo...It's a pretty good scale, but if I had to do it over (my next one) ...I would get one of those that has the fish grabber built in. I believe Piscifun and others make some. The hook just doesn't work that good on the one I have, & you end up putting a fish grabber on it...so now it's just too long to take a photo with if you are by yourself. It might work if my arms were 3 feet longer...

I do not know Steve real well, but its crazy to me how his expressions on holding up a 2 pound fish for a picture are the exact same for a 7 plus pounder. Sign of a man who has boated many many fish!!

Curtis...Good question...I believe on FCL it goes on in stages basically from now until mid to end of April. The water temps this year keep getting pushed down to cooler temps than previous years so I would think the 1st major spawn will be mid March, and beginning of Sunfish season to be early April...If my thinking is correct, this week there should be some real good bass staging in creek timber before the next cold front mid week. We will see confused 3
