Not sure where you're located, but if ever around DFW airport, check out and spend some time at Founders Plaza there on a south wind day.
Note, there isn't a head there, so go before you go.
Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.

Note, there isn't a head there, so go before you go. I'm 30 minutes away from there, but I haven't been yet. I need to make it out there for sure.

A little aviation fact for ya. Back in the late 70's, Delta was granted rights to fly non stop, DFW-FRA. Their L1011's didn't have the range for the route. They got smart and removed the lower galley an turned it into a fuel cell, enabling them to make the trip. Those Rolls Royce RB 11's sump'n, sump'ns were a sound to hear. Not only on start up, but after wheels up was an awesome sound! They in turn did the same thing for their DFW-HNL trips.
Those along with MD-11's and 747's were the true "heavy's" of the day. With composites now, Singapore flies the longest routes, I believe up to 16 plus hours.
Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.

I never flew the 747 or the MD-11. I made quite a few trips on the DC-10 DFW-ORD and the L1011 DFW-ATL.

Dallas to Dubai was loooooong.. Google shows 16 hours.
Anybody ever get on flight tracker? Hear a plane but can't see it so you look and see. I do that alot.
God loves you just as much as anybody else!!
Jesus offered His life as a gift for you. Please accept it!

I'm one of the guys that you would want behind the scope.
I'm retired now and sell insurance and am so much looking forward to the tournament trails as always (Basschamps and TTO again this year)
Sequencing arrivals with crossing trraffic and seeing the string of pearls going in to land was a reward in itself. If I had time I would watch the Tracon go into more detail sequencing props with the jets and thankfully very little crossing traffic. I have the utmost respect for good air traffic controllers. It's actually an art to do it the right way.
I could and probably should write a book about air traffic contol. It was definitely more rewarding working the airplanes than being a supervisor. They both were a little stressful of course

Thanks for your service Joel. I was one of the prop jobs going in and out of Addison to see my kids from Lubbock. Every time I came up to Bridgeport, it was time to put my A game on. Turn to, descend to , expedite descent. Amazing the patients you all had with the foreign students working out to the west side of DFW. Can’t believe instructors would sign them off for Class B work.Traded my plane in for a lake house on Granbury and now close to the grandkids so need for an airplane dwindled. Miss it a little but I’m in a better place now.

I've loved commercial jets since I was a kid. I was so disappointed when our Australia trip changed (the first time)and we were going to be on 787s from here to Tokyo to Sydney rather than the A380 nonstop.

Been an aviation geek for awhile myself. Never got to fly jets, but was a taxi instructor for L10ll, DC-10, 757 & A-10's back in the day. Started out in biplanes (AgCats) cropdusting using the techniques above.

I do it quite often. I use it to get actual flight info and fly the routes in my flight sim.
