2/5/2022: Went out after the cold snap for a couple of hours. I saw fish in 25 to 35 fow but could get no bites on a #4 Mepps working straight down, and I saw fish in 15 to 17 fow and only got one bite and didn't catch it. I think it is time to deadstick.

Dennis what was the water temp? Also, what lure do you use for deadstick?

47.8 degrees was the coldest I saw. So far I have had zero luck deadsticking. If I ever catch any, I'll share the lure I used.

Dennis. Try dead sticking with a crappie jig style body in pear or chartreuse or pink. I’ve been having good success with a 1/4 oz head with these bodies. Use the same gear you use for Mepps.

I use a small slab with a stinger hook on it with a small Crappie jig tied about 18 inches above with a looper knot on it.
