I bought a Motorguide Xi5 with a 54 in shaft, where it has to sit on the bow of my boat I can only get 3 screws in it the 4 screw would actually have to go through my front deck. My question is would it be helpful and give me enough space if I used the removable mounting bracket?

Are you doing a new install or replacing an existing motor?

I’m replacing, I had in X3 on it but I can’t use the same holes I tried last night and it sits wider than my old motor.

What about drilling out a new hole that would fit? I had to do that on mine to secure all 4 as one hole was off the rail I needed to mount to. Works great and isn’t going anywhere!
