I was going to fish this but when they announced the date of it, I changed my mind. I’m not a fan of the January early February tournaments.
Lots of big dogs will be fishing this event

Lol. I totally forgot Brandon would be playing ball in the summer. That's probably pretty important. Of course all the big locals will be there and I imagine quite a few top pros but you also have an open season starting this week in Florida so some guys will be there instead. I wouldn't count a 40lb bag out. Those fish will be grouped up at some point and somebody could run into them. The group fishing this has the best chance at that happening. It will take 30lbs to make the top 20.

There was no way I could get off work this week so it wouldn't have hurt my feelings if the moved it to a week I could fish. It would be a donation I am sure but I like to gamble and the risk reward on this one is worth it. Hopefully it is a success and continues/expands like he wants.

That being said the weather doesn't look that bad and they are allowing trailering the 1st two days anyways.

The Problem is not the first day on Thursday other than the rain and high winds. The problem is the black ice on bridges thursday night and friday morning ect. Plus its east texas ice, on power lines and powers outages.

Weather app I’ve seen doesn’t show Icey conditions, either way no one going to be happy if they canceled or didn’t. We are in and not hesitant about fishing it. Good luck for safe travels and safety on the lake.

We're fishing it. Fished in worse conditions on Rayburn in Basschamps and they didn't even trailer. I see Friday morning being the issue with trailering/travel. Wind will be a factor but this time of year on Rayburn that's a pretty common wind. They'll be some nice bags caught Thursday and Friday. Rayburn always fishes best on windy cloudy days. The top 20 Saturday fishing alongside the big high school event and Toyota guys practicing will be interesting. I think 34lbs to make the top 20

It's amazing to me how much pressure Rayburn gets. I remember back when I looked forward to fishing Rayburn. Last few times I have been it's so crowded that it's not even enjoyable.

I remember a few days out there during champs that I have to laugh at when I think about them. I remember Chad saying one morning "its only a foot and a half waves out there" before they let us go. Sure didn't feeling that when you rounded the corner of the island but we ran up to Harvey. Sleet and rain and cold and we sucked but somehow it's a great memory lol

I remember that tournament we caught them pretty good in that tournament. also remember in the mid 90s anglers' choice would never trailer in the east team, I was a young boy, we had a champion 203, had big rod boxes, I would throw my sleeping bag in there and ride all the way down the lake in the rod box lol, get out and was ready to go, my dad would be freezing to death ice all over his mustache. Funny thing was when we went thru boat check they would say hey where's are boy he stayed at home, nah Hes in the rod box.

Yes 17 a day avg. And with weights not being zeroed guys are going to lean on their fish. This time of year you could see a 30, 35 lb bag I wouldn't be surprised. With 350+ teams it only takes 20 of them to be on fish
