Does anyone know of a place close to Hempstead to fish for crappie close to Hempstead? I don't have a boat anymore.

I have fished the big pond off Muse Pkwy in Waller for a few dollars in the past. There are some crappies in the ponds by the pine box derby place (Hockley rec complex) but the water there looks funny.
John Paul landing off katy hockley and west rd.
You can ride a little over 30 min to lake Somerville and fish the marina or just below the damn might catch crappie, white bass or a hybrid on three consecutive casts.
Check w the locals if you dont mind getting your hands dirty or doing a little farm work its a few creeks and ponds on family/private that have some SLABS as well.
